How scoring works

Every product on this board carries five component marks. The total out of 100 is computed from those marks, not assigned — which means no product can be moved up the board without changing a mark that has to be defended in writing.

The five components

  • 30%Cost

    All-in monthly outlay — software, platform, data and any required hosting. This is the hurdle a strategy clears before the trader sees a dollar, so it carries the most weight.

  • 25%Automation

    Whether the product places trades, assists a human, or only signals. A tool that needs you at the desk is not automation regardless of what it costs.

  • 20%Coverage

    Instruments and markets genuinely supported, including whether smaller contract sizes are available to smaller accounts.

  • 15%Resilience

    Monitoring, automatic recovery from disconnects and platform restarts, and the support attached. Unattended systems fail operationally far more often than they fail strategically.

  • 10%Transparency

    Whether the logic is describable. A buyer who cannot say what a system does has no basis for deciding whether a losing month is variance or breakage.

What is deliberately excluded

Published returns. No component scores a product on its advertised performance. A return quoted without its maximum drawdown and the period it covers is marketing rather than evidence, and vendor backtests are not independently verifiable. A product is not rewarded here for claiming a good year.

Unverified pricing. Where a price has not been read off the vendor’s own page and dated, it is marked on the board and excluded from the cost component rather than estimated. 0 of 12 products currently sit in that state. Guessing a number and scoring it would make the whole board worthless.

Review counts and star ratings. This site publishes its own assessment against the rubric above. It does not aggregate user reviews, and it emits no review or rating structured data.

Commercial relationships

This is a for-profit publication. Partners pay to be listed, and we may earn a fee when a reader clicks through or purchases. That affects which products are covered — this board is not a census of the market, and coverage is incomplete by design. It does not change the component marks, which are recorded per product and visible on each scorecard. The full statement is on the disclosure page.

The top-ranked product is connected to this site’s operator. That is stated plainly rather than buried, and it is the reason this site emits no review or rating structured data for it.
